Experience riding the Bonnet Bus

A special ride on the retro Bonnet Bus (an old-fashioned bus with a protruding hood from the Showa era) to view the Kurihara countryside and townscape. The experience allows riders to enjoy a unique bodily sensation from the bus's gentle swaying, which is not felt in modern buses. The recommended ride time is 30 minutes to 1 hour to prevent discomfort from the suspension.

Plan Details

A special ride on the retro Bonnet Bus to take in the peaceful landscape of the Kurihara countryside. The Bonnet Bus is an old-fashioned vehicle in which the mounted hood prodtrudes outward from the front of the vehicle, a type of bus which was widely used across Japan during the Showa era (1926–1989). In Kurihara, this bus can be seen running during special events such as the town Night Market.

The gentle swaying riders feels as they are transported in this old bus is a feeling which can’t be had in modern buses, a bodily sensation that helps you appreciate its design. Enjoy feeling as if you have stepped back in time as you ride along, gazing out at the nature and townscape of Kurihara, Miyagi.

Course Details

A ride on the retro Bonnet Bus to take in the peaceful townscape and natural landscape of Kurihara.

Assuming a ride distance of up to about 50 kilometers, the Bonnet Bus can transport you from your desired pick-up point to drop-off point. Although it is possible to accommodate requests of over 50 km (for example, a ride from Sendai to Kurihara), please be aware that a long ride may feel burdensome because some riders find the bus7s suspension uncomfortable over long distances.

– Taking into account the luggage space needs, the maximum number of riders is set at 20. In the event of a booking request for more than 20 riders, 2 buses can be provided.
