Plan Details

Designated a national Site of Scenic Beauty and National Monument, Geibikei Gorge is counted among the 100 Views of Japan. Drifting through the gorge in a boat propelled by an oarsman maneuvering it with a single long pole, enjoy the seasonally changing landscape. Also, enjoy an “oarsman experience” in which you can try propelling the boat yourself.

Alighting at a landing point at the far end of the gorge, try your hand at “undama-age” lucky stone tossing. Try to toss the lucky stone into a hole in a rock on the opposite shore—resembling the shape of a lion’s head, it is said to be the namesake of the gorge. If the lucky stone lands inside the hole, it is said that your wish will come true.
