Kanenoi Shuzo’s signature sake, Wataya, is brewed with the mission of being food-friendly. The tour includes visiting the source of the famous Kozo Sansui Spring at Kozo Fudo Falls, which is essential to the brewing process. This is followed by a brewery tour to learn about the Wataya line's brewing steps, and finally, a sake tasting session (limited to participants aged 20 and up). Designated drivers (aged 20 and over) who cannot participate in the tasting will receive a complimentary souvenir sake bottle. English explanation is offered when the brewery director is available.

“Kanenoi Shuzo’s signature line of sake, Wataya, is brewed with food pairing in mind. At Kanenoi Shuzo, we continue to carry on the founder’s mission of brewing food-friendly sake that we ourselves find delicious. Starting with soil preparation; then rice, water, koji, and yeast, we are passionate about every element related to our sake. Our sake is brewed using water from the famous Kozo Sansui Spring of Kozo Fudo Falls, an essential element of Kanenoi’s sake brewing. We invite you to visit us for a tour of our water source and brewery followed by a tasting session.”

Course Details

1. Tour of source spring
Visit the impressive Kozo Fudo Falls where Kozo Sansui Spring is located. The famous water gushing forth here is used to brew sake possessing refined aroma and sharpness. The relationship between Kanenoi’s signature brewing process and this indispensable water source will be introduced.

2. Brewery tour
Learn the steps of sake brewing and the particulars of the brewing process for the Wataya line of sake by Kanenoi.

3. Sake tasting*
Enjoy sake brewed from raw materials carefully selected by Kanenoi Brewery. For designated drivers and others (over 20 years of age) with circumstances preventing them from participating in the sake tasting, we offer a souvenir gift.

Other (Notes)

For those wishing to visit during the brewing season (February–April), please refrain from eating natto and/or yogurt on the day of your visit. In the event these items are somehow consumed, please inform us in advance, brush your teeth, and gargle.

-For tours during brewing season (February–April), we ask that visitors refrain from wearing strong perfumes and/or other scented items.

-For designated drivers and others (over 20 years of age) with circumstances preventing them from participating in the sake tasting, we will provide one 720 ml bottle of sake as a complimentary souvenir.

-Children may also participate in the spring water and brewery tours; however, please note that access to certain areas is restricted.

*If cancellation is made by 4:00 PM the day before the tour, no cancellation fee will be charged.
