Staying at Yuzu no Azemichi Amago no Kaeru
Spend time in a space of extraordinary freedom, surrounded by tranquil countryside views in a nostalgic old Japanese-style house.
This 170-year-old traditional house has been renovated as a whole-house rental accommodation, preserving its old-world charm while creating a comfortable Japanese-style space for guests to enjoy.
Spacious earthen floors, irori hearths, thick pillars and beams evoke a sense of gravity that you can’t experience in modern buildings.
Near the accommodation stands a ginkgo tree, designated as a Miyagi Prefecture Cultural Property and Natural Monument, said to have been the site of rain prayers in long ago.
To the north stretch the cultivation fields of Shibata Town's yuzu brand, the “Amago no Yuzu”, allowing you to experience the seasonal landscapes of the mountain village and the bounty of nature.
The full services of a hotel or ryokan are not provided, and there are no televisions installed. Please enjoy leisurely conversation with family and friends in this space imbued with nostalgia.
