Yagyu Shingan-ryu is a comprehensive samurai martial arts system developed in the Sendai Domain during the Edo period (1600–1868). It includes secret techniques which allowed samurai warriors to defeat their enemies in the midst of battle, even when weapons like swords and spears had become exhausted. The martial art became widespread in Tome, with many common folk learning it as a form of self-defense. Observe a number of these sophisticated techniques in action on the Mori Butai Stage at the of the Tome City Dento Geino Densho-kan, then try out some of the techniques for yourself.
