Visit Zasu Pottery, home to one of the few remaining anagama (traditional wood-fired kilns) in the Tohoku region. The pottery produces unglazed, natural-fired pieces. The experience includes a tour of the kiln and a visit to the gallery with explanations from the pottery master. A pottery wheel demonstration is available upon request, and all visitors receive a souvenir piece fired in the anagama kiln.

*This program is available on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. However, availability may be limited depending on reservation status, so prior inquiry is required.
*Reservations during Obon and New Year holidays are accepted; however, please consult with us in advance.

* The pottery master is able to provide basic explanations in English; however, the tour includes some specialized content. To ensure a deeper understanding, we recommend that an interpreter accompany the group.
- Plan Details
Zasu Pottery is one of the few remaining anagama (traditional wood-fired kilns) in the Tohoku region, continuing the tradition of producing unglazed, natural-fired pottery. Their work features everyday tableware as well as flower vases, tea utensils, and art objects, blending traditional techniques with designs that fit modern lifestyles.
During the experience, you will tour the old-style anagama kiln while listening to explanations from the pottery master. You will also visit the gallery showcasing pieces fired in this kiln. If you find a favorite item, purchases are available. Upon request, you can also watch a demonstration of pottery wheel throwing by the pottery master.
At the end of the tour, you will receive a carefully selected souvenir from the pottery master.
